A pawsome program debuted on the internet in the spring of 2020. Keeping up with the Kattarshians, a pun on the name of the defunct Kardashian family’s reality show follows four newborn kitties living in a giant dollhouse.
Do you suffer from Kardashian family fatigue? Â In Iceland, production firms Skot and SagaFilm, along with pop culture website Ntminn, invented a special program to cure your disease while still providing entertainment.
They replaced the celebrity influencers with… kittens! Indeed, you can tune in to watch Keeping up with the Kattarshians.
The first-ever feline reality program follows a group of four young kittens, each approximately ten weeks old. Bored Panda reports that Guni, Stubber, Briet, and Ronja were recorded nonstop with three GoPro cameras inside a dollhouse.
For nine weeks, the kittens have lived in the comfortable miniature house with enough toys to lose their mind. While spectators unwind in front of their screen, they can watch these adorable kitties engage in activities such as playing, eating, strolling, and sleeping.
Described as the cutest reality TV show in the world, the furry live stream is hosted on the NĂștĂminn YouTube channel . Besides, the first seasons are already completed.
Although this program might sound silly to naysayers, the show is actually destined to promote animal welfare.
A reality TV show for a good cause
Inga Lind KarlsdĂłttir, the showâs producer, is an animal activist. For this reason, she took a year to set up this project in close collaboration with the Icelandic animal protection authorities and a local cat shelter KattavinafĂ©lagiĂ°.
The live show is paused two or three times a day to allow members of the Icelandic SPA (Society for the Protection of Animals) can interact with the feline cast, clean their litter boxes, and feed them.
Like in most live streams, viewers can comment on the show at any time using a small dialogue box.
So here, no expensive fashion, tropical destinations, weeping or shouting… Keeping up with the Kattarshians does not contain any of thatâjust some good ole fun with adorable pets.
These kittens featured in the program come from a shelter, and their purpose is to find good homes for them. And as further evidence of how well-liked this reality show is, the fact that all four cats from the inaugural season have found forever homes.
After their immediate success and subsequent adoption, Guni, Stubber, Briet, and Ronja were succeeded by more stray cats seeking a caring family.
