A woman who thought her cat was lost forever miraculously found the animal way closer than she imagined five years later. The cat had an eventful journey before ending up in the house next door.
Nguhi Muturi, who uses the Twitter handle @ngvhi, wrote about the incredible comeback of her pet Panther. Her interesting post sparked countless reactions.
Nothing compares to the heartbreak of losing a pet or the joy of reuniting with one. Nguhi would be the first to tell you, considering her unbelievable experience.
The young woman, who resides in Dallas, Texas, lost her feline five years prior to her tweet. As she had declawed the black kitten, she feared he wouldn’t survive the ordeal.
Little did Nguhi know, a local shelter had welcomed the wandering cat soon after his escapade about fifteen miles from Nguhi’s neighborhood. But, since Panther couldn’t find a new family, he joined the list of cats slated for euthanasia.
Thankfully, a woman adopted the critter hours before the final procedure and subsequently renamed him, Charlie.
Panther/Charlie returns to Dallas
In an unexpected development, this lady could no longer care for the kitten, so she sent him to her parents. So here comes the plot twist: those parents were Nguhi’s neighbors.
 Simply put, Panther/Charlie finally moved into the house next door to his old owner’s and stayed there for months, unnoticed. One could wonder why Nguhi never spotted him.
It’s due to the tomcat spending nearly all his time indoors. Thus, he never crossed paths with his original owner.
Around the cat’s arrival, Charlie’s new masters also purchased a Husky dog, Trotsky. The puppy turned out to be hyperactive and too much for the older couple to handle.
To help her neighbors, the generous Nguhi offered to house their energetic puppy temporarily. While dog-sitting, she fell under the puppy’s charm.
“I started taking care of him until they asked if I wanted to fully adopt him.” Â She said
Nguhi agreed to keep the puppy. Just like that, the Texans unknowingly completed a pet swap!
“I took their dog, and they took my cat.”
A heartwarming reunion
Somehow, Charlie left his new house to visit Nguhi’s residence over the weekend. The moggy suddenly appeared at her door, rubbing against Nguhi’s father’s knee.
The woman had to double-check this furball, but she noticed the intruding puss was declawed exactly like Panther. Besides, once in the house, the puss went right to his old favorite spot according to the Sun.
No possible coincidence there, concluded Nguhi. This was her old cat, returning five years later.
Once she told her story, the neighbors offered to return the cat to Nguhi, but she opted out. She didn’t want to make Panther/Charlie leave his home once again.
Furthermore, the kitten was next door, so she could always pop by for a visit. As you can see, luck frequently has the last say in how things turn out.
