In the video clip recorded by security cameras on October 31, 2019, in Bogota, Columbia, an infant child is seen playing in a room. The young child sits in a room with a playpen, alone with a cat. The curious child crawls on the floor toward the bottom of the screen.
Simultaneously the fast-reflexed cat springs into action. The feline runs after the child, using its body weight and paws to wrangle the child away from danger.
The cat aggressively uses its body weight to push the child away from the bottom of the screen. This is the same location where the staircase is located out of view.
Using its paws to clamor at the child’s upper body, the cat successfully moves the child out of harm’s way. The child retreats and sits down briefly before getting on all fours again to crawl some more.
Fearful the child will get into trouble, the cat hops on the child playfully. The strategy to deter the child works, and the child redirects its attention away from danger.
