Louie and Luna met at STAR Rescue in Gainesville, FL and became immediately inseparable. The two kitties started cuddling the moment they met and never stopped.
When James and his girlfriend went to the shelter, they were taken aback by the strong bond the two cats shared.
The couple actually went to the shelter looking for a dog. However, they decided they’d be better off with cats since they both work full-time jobs out of the home.
New home, same friend
When James’ girlfriend first spotted Luna, she fell in love. Two weeks later, they went back to the shelter to adopt her.
But Luna wasn’t ready to leave the shelter. At least not without her buddy Louie.
So, the couple decided to “foster” Louie to give Luna a companion while she got settled into her new home. It only took a few hours after getting home for the couple to realize that this was a failed plan.
“We couldn’t let go of Louie after seeing how ‘at home’ they both were together,” James told Love Meow.
Louie permanently became a part of the family after about a week. Now Louie and Luna will be together forever.
“They love to take care of each other and nap together. They do everything together,” James said. “Rescue cats are more appreciative of their adoptive owners, especially the ones that have been in shelters for extended amounts of time.”
Forever kisses
Now you’ll find Louie and Luna hanging around the house just giving each other kisses.

Louie and Luna are the best of friends. James and his girlfriend try not to get too offended by how much their cats love each other more than them.
“Luna is a brown and orange Maine Coon and Louie is an orange tabby,” James said. “When we adopted them, they were extremely close off the bat. They liked each other more than they liked us.”
It’s hard to imagine Louie and Luna not being together. But thanks to the kindness and compassion of James and his girlfriend, they won’t have to be. Louie and Luna are two regular love birds. Their love for each other is an inspiration for us all.
